Open-air Evangel
July 27 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
God willing, we will be in Hyde this Saturday – near to the Market Square.
The location is not new to us as far as open-air witness goes and we have preached there on many occasions in the past between 2018 and 2022.
Times are – Arrive 11.30 – Depart 13.30
The open-air witness in Dukinfield last Saturday was again a joy and it was good to be preaching the gospel. As usual Bibles and the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were available to any who asked for them.
Dukinfield is a little unusual as a place to preach the gospel since there are few [if any] actual sites that lend themself to it. Most inhabitants on Saturday are gathered in adjacent towns for activities like shopping and so on, so there are no ‘busy with people’ spots to be recognised/visited.
Only one lady [M] from the flats, spoke to us [TFCC] for a while, asking who we were, and what we were about? She told us of the church that she had attended closing down and being sold off; and, sadly, she advised that she no longer attended any church. We let her know about our own present situation at TFCC and told her about our ‘online’ ministry here in Tameside, and of the established churches in Wales and in the Philippines; we also spoke of our hopes and aspirations in Christ for Tameside. She took our Website/s Business Card and we hope she may join us online for now. Several others of the neighbourhood appeared at their front doors on the balconies and a good few heard a little of the messages preached while passing by from the flats to the shops and back or waiting at the bus stop nearby.
No bibles or gospels were handed out; but we are content to think ‘the LORD alone knows why!’ and we remain encouraged.
Looking back the place chosen – King St. flats neighbourhood near the pelican crossing, turned out to be as good a place as any and will keep to the same spot for the next Dukinfield Open-Air meet; thinking being ‘familiarity may lead to a closer look, trust and gospel witness.’ That said the Lord alone must build for … Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: Psalm 127:1 and …. we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: to the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? 2 Cor.2:15-17
Following this 3rd event we plan to visit Stalybridge next Saturday [03-08-24] before doing the rounds again returning to Ashton. Locations/notices will be posted before each open-air.
We acknowledge all our arrangements subject according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Eph.1:11
We believe – The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:2
