Open-air Evangel

September 28 @ 12:00 am - 1:00 pm

“Open-air  this Saturday (28/09/24)

We are glad to tell of the arrangements of our open-air witness today in Ashton-under-Lyne and to take our place at our old preaching spot in front of the NatWest Bank – Warrington St, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 6JL.

 Time 12.00-13.00

We will have Pocket Bibles and Gospels to hand out to all who would like them. Full size Bibles are available on request.

Report of the day;-  We {TFCC} were glad to be able to pray, to preach and to sing the psalms today in Ashton and privileged to speak to a number of people about the the Lord Jesus and his saving work as it is revealed in God’s Holy word the Bible. 4 Authorized King James Version Bibles [AKJV]  and 6 Gospel booklets were accepted by the people we spoke to including:-

B….. a lady who said she experienced difficulty when trying to read the AKJV.  We discussed this at length and she thanked us for our help and for her copy of the AKJV.

L…… a lady who told us of her failed faith which she said was due to tragic life events and death of her dearly loved sister. She added that recently she had had thoughts about God and these had been roused within her today at our singing of the psalms [130 & 103].  We had a wonderful discussion about faith and the need for it to be centered ‘In Christ’ and we were mutually encouraged by the love of God especially for the afflicted.

P…. a lady who joined the conversation being had with L…… whose life experiences included many trials.  She too was encouraged in the discussion, took a bible and went off wishing us well.

2 young, gentlemenly, chaps [7-8 years old?] approached the table during the preaching and looked at the gospels on display.  Preaching paused, they were invited to take whichever they liked at which they chose 1 each and politely thanked the preacher before going off.  The lads were given the church details on TFCC’s Business card and told to give it to their parents for reference as needed.

S… a young man and his 5 years old son C…… stopped to admire the church bike and trailer, as some have before, and we were engaged in conversation about their lives and about the Lord Jesus for sometime before they went on their way with both bible and gospel booklet.

In addition P…. came and spoke to us again.  He has visited us every occasion that we have been in Ashton and we can only hope the Lord will answer our prayers for him.

Many others passing by heard the word preached some giving indication of approval and some of disapproval – we trust the LORD for them all and bless him that he has seen fit for us to proclaim the glorious gospel in Tameside.

If reading this you think you would like to join us whenever we are able to go out or that you might like a bible [made free to you by the LORD] then keep watching this space.  Better yet listen to some of the sermons on this website and may God bless you.
