Back to normal?
Since the beginning of March 2020 our country, and all the world, has been in a sorry state of confusion due to the pestilence cum plague of the Corona-virus, Covid. A brave face has been donned by many, if not the majority, with attempts of every kind made to overcome, or cope with, the prevailing circumstances. Church and State have succumbed to a fear of this formerly unknown phenomena and solutions adopted, to ‘carry on regardless,’ have left much to be desired. One thing has been notable – there has been little turning to God for deliverance as in times past.
We believe this is indicative of a nation, and a world, that has forgotten God; betraying him who made this world and our nation [the one-time Great Britain]. We believe Covid, bad as it is, has been but a warning from God, a chastisement to awaken the world to a need, not for ‘restart’ but for ‘reform’; a forsaking of our wicked ways and a ‘return’ to God.
Without this turning to God in repentance and faith we understand the Lord’s words in Matthew’s gospel Chapter 24 and Luke’s gospel Chapter 17 will soon be upon us and that only a remnant will be prepared in that day for what is to come.
For you, it need not be so for the LORD has said –
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:22
We are glad to be able to announce that TFCC have resumed the normal –
Following months of COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ – during which time Tameside Free Congregational Church continued to enjoy ministry 1st through extended online use of the church’s website and, 2nd meeting since 6th September 2020 for ‘adapted church services’ at the Grafton Centre– we are most thankful that TFCC has now resumed its normal Sabbath Day Services for morning and evening.
In the absence of our own local minister the services continue to be provided online by Mr Brian Bradley (Ordained Congregational Minister) of Bryn Seion Reformed Congregational Church, Llanelli, Sth.Wales. More information about Brian, Bryn Seion church and its ministry can be found at – brynseion.online
Please note – part of the services are audio only and we covet your prayers that, God willing, we might have a minister cum-under-shepherd once more here in Tameside.
We continue to pray for the local, national and international situation, asking our Heavenly Father and Sovereign Lord to grant us mercy, in this extraordinary day of his visitation, and grace to trust to him for the good that will result; and is promised to his people.
“Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity:” Isaiah 26:20&21a
“In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:” Isaiah 26:1-4
